Sharing is caring!

When you want to make some really healthy snacks for the kids, it’s probably best to stick to the classics.

One of the best things about this, is that it’s not very expensive, and the things you needs can be found at basically any shop!

As you already know, if you want your children to do well in school, then it’s important that they get the nutrients they need. In the next couple of paragraphs you’ll find some ideas about healthy and fun snacks for kids.

Fruit Salad

Fruit is good for you, but fruit salad is even better!

Fruit often contains a large portion of the vitamins that your body needs to carry out most processes. They’re also very sweet and are satisfying to the taste buds. And by combining several kinds of fruit into a salad, you’re ensuring your kids get a mix of different nutrients and vitamins.

The coolest part of fruit salad though, is that you can make all kinds of different combinations of fruit so that your fruit salad feels exciting every day.

Just be sure to make them with seasonal fruit, and local produce where possible. This will be cheapest – not to mention tastiest.

Homemade Smoothies

Smoothies are a really easy way to make sure that your body is getting the most nutrients from fruits and vegetables as possible. They’re easier to digest because the fruit has been blending into a finer texture.

Smoothies also tend to have some yogurt include, so that gives you the probiotic food that can help with your gut health.

And since you can’t tell exactly what’s in a smoothie, it’s a great way of getting veg such as spinach into picky kids!

Granola or Trail Mix

The granola and trail mix that being talked about here isn’t the regular name brand type. This type of higher end granola/ trail mix can be found in containers in some stores.

You can also buy different types of nuts and dried fruit to make a magnificent trail mix at home for yourself and the family.  This will be cheaper, especially if you buy the nuts in bulk. And children will enjoy helping to mix up their own special blends.

Veg Sticks and Dips

Raw vegetable sticks such as carrots, celery and peppers are crunchy and filling, a perfect snack for hungry kids. To make it more fun and enticing, pair the veg sticks with a selection of dips such as hummus, peanut butter or plain yoghurt.

Cheese and Seed Crackers

A lot of the crackers that can be found at the store tend to have very little fiber in them, so they’re generally useless to someone who is trying to live a healthier life. Those pure flour crackers can become sludge that gets stuck in your teeth and gums. Try some seed crackers or whole grain crackers instead.
